NFL Trade Deadline 2026: Sellers, Buyers, Ranked

The 2026 NFL trade deadline is Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. ET. The Colts, Eagles and Chargers lead the sellers' board; Chiefs, Bears and Steelers are the buyers to watch.

The 2026 NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 10, at 4 p.m. ET, right after Week 9. The sellers' board is led by the 2-5 Colts, who fired general manager Chris Ballard on October 20 and have teams calling about Jonathan Taylor. The 2-5 Eagles and the winless Chargers follow. The buyers to watch are Kansas City, Chicago and Pittsburgh, all looking for help at wide receiver or in the secondary.

Two weeks from today, every front office in the league has to decide what it is. A month ago that question had different answers. When ESPN published its early deadline preview on October 2, Philadelphia was a 2-1 team listed as a likely buyer. Today the Eagles are 2-5, Jalen Hurts is out for the season, and Saquon Barkley's name is showing up on seller lists. Houston bought Marvin Harrison Jr. at 1-4 and is 2-5 heading into its bye.

That shift is the betting story. Deadline trades almost never move a Super Bowl price by much. What they do move is the second tier of markets: player props, division prices and the weekly lines of the teams that sell. Here is the board, ranked by how much each team can change it.

The Sellers' Board, Ranked

These are the teams most likely to move veterans before November 10, ordered by the betting impact of what they could sell.

RankTeamRecordSuper Bowl oddsNames in play
1Indianapolis Colts2-5+25000Jonathan Taylor, DeForest Buckner, Josh Downs
2Philadelphia Eagles2-5+20000Saquon Barkley
3Los Angeles Chargers0-6+60000Khalil Mack
4Tennessee Titans1-6+100000Tony Pollard
5Washington Commanders1-4-1+12500Daron Payne
6Arizona Cardinals2-5+80000Josh Sweat (already sold Marvin Harrison Jr.)

Records and DraftKings Super Bowl odds per FOX Sports' Week 8 power rankings, October 27, 2026. Names drawn from ESPN, Bleacher Report and team reporting; a name on this list is a rumor, not a deal.

1. Indianapolis Colts. No team has a cleaner reason to sell. Owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon fired Ballard after a 2-4 start, ending a 10-season run that finished 72-82-1. Assistant GM Ed Dodds is expected to run the front office as interim GM, and head coach Shane Steichen is staying for now. A loss to Minnesota has since made it three straight. Taylor is the prize. He is signed through 2028 after a two-year, $44 million extension, so Indianapolis is not forced to move him, and that is exactly why the price will be high. Analysts have floated a first- and third-round pick package. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler also named receiver Josh Downs as a name to watch, and Buckner has appeared in several mock deals. Taylor himself said he hasn't given his future any thought.

The betting impact of a Taylor trade cuts two ways. The Colts' weekly totals would likely drop, because Taylor is the one part of the offense FOX Sports still calls a bright spot. And whichever contender gets him would see its rushing props, and possibly its game totals, repriced the same afternoon. We covered why his August extension set the market for elite backs in our running back market reset breakdown.

2. Philadelphia Eagles. The fall here has been fast. Hurts was ruled out for the year with blood clots, as covered in our NFC East odds breakdown, and the Eagles have lost five straight. Barkley returned on Monday night against Dallas and left after nine plays with a back injury, on top of the hamstring issue he was already carrying. He is under contract for two more seasons. That injury is now the biggest obstacle to any deal. Contenders do not pay for a running back they can't get through a physical, so the most likely result is that Barkley stays put and Philadelphia sells smaller pieces.

3. Los Angeles Chargers. At 0-6, the Chargers are the league's only winless team. Mack is the obvious candidate, and his contract makes him easy to move. He signed for one year and $18 million, $10 million of it as a signing bonus that has already been paid. A buyer would owe only the prorated remainder of an $8 million salary. A pass rusher on that kind of rental deal is the most common trade made at any deadline.

4. Tennessee Titans. Tennessee is 1-6, and FOX Sports notes that Cam Ward is on pace for the fewest passing yards per game by a starting quarterback in 20 years. Pollard, 29, is in the final year of his deal at $6.74 million. He fits a contender that needs a short-yardage back without giving up a premium pick.

5. Washington Commanders. At 1-4-1, Washington is closer to the bottom of the NFC than the top. Payne's contract voids after the season, so he becomes a free agent unless the Commanders extend him first. If they don't plan to, trading him now is the only way to get something back.

6. Arizona Cardinals. Arizona has already made its big sale. On October 11-12 the Cardinals sent Harrison and a 2027 seventh-round pick to Houston for the Texans' 2027 second- and sixth-round picks, according to the team's release. Edge rusher Josh Sweat, who reportedly requested a trade earlier this year, is the next logical piece.

The Buyers' Board

The other half of the deadline is who is calling. Three contenders have been tied to specific needs.

TeamRecordSuper Bowl oddsImplied chanceReported need
San Francisco 49ers6-1+58014.7%Depth with Christian McCaffrey hurt (calf)
Kansas City Chiefs5-1+90010.0%Wide receiver
Chicago Bears5-2+14006.7%Defensive back, pass rusher
Pittsburgh Steelers5-2+65001.5%Wide receiver

Odds per DraftKings via FOX Sports, October 27, 2026. Implied chances include the sportsbook's margin. Needs per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and ESPN's October 2 deadline preview.

Kansas City is the most motivated buyer on the board. Fowler reported this week that the Chiefs are calling around for a receiver. Rashee Rice is expected back from a hamstring injury, but Tyquan Thornton will miss a significant stretch with an ankle injury. The need showed on Sunday night, when Kansas City lost its unbeaten record 20-3 in Seattle and Harrison Butker missed two field goals. Next up is a Sunday trip to Denver, a 5-2 division rival. Our Kansas City Chiefs picks page tracks how the market handles that game.

Chicago sits at 5-2 under Ben Johnson, with Caleb Williams still not fully healthy. ESPN's preview flagged the Bears as a buyer for help in the secondary and on the edge, which is why Mack's name keeps coming up in Chicago. Any move would be in place before the Bears play Seattle on Monday night of Week 8. Our Chicago Bears picks page has the matchup.

Pittsburgh is the quieter buyer. Fowler called the Steelers a team to watch for a receiver, with Roman Wilson out with a knee injury and DK Metcalf needing a second outside option. At +6500, Pittsburgh's futures price is the one most likely to react to a trade, because it is long enough that a single move changes the conversation.

San Francisco has the best Super Bowl price in the league and a bye coming. McCaffrey is dealing with a calf injury, and FOX Sports notes the 49ers have turned the ball over eight times in three games. ESPN's preview predicted the 49ers would keep backup quarterback Mac Jones rather than cash him in.

⚔ The Live Edge: A deadline trade changes a team's personnel on Tuesday, but the pregame line for that team's next game is set by Wednesday morning, before anyone sees how the new player is used. The first quarter of that game tells you more than the number does. If the new receiver is getting first-read targets right away, the market has not caught up yet. That in-game read is where we work. Get the free live pick.

Why Deadline Trades Rarely Move Super Bowl Odds

It is tempting to think a big trade flips a team's title chances. The market rarely agrees, and history backs it up. In October 2024 the Jets traded for Davante Adams to reunite him with Aaron Rodgers, and New York still missed the playoffs. One player at a non-quarterback position seldom changes a team's ceiling.

Houston offers a live example this year. The Texans paid a second-round pick for Harrison at 1-4. Since then they are 1-1, now 2-5, and still at +3500 to win the Super Bowl per DraftKings. The trade did not reprice Houston's season. It repriced Harrison's receiving props, because his target share and his role changed overnight.

That is where the value usually sits after a deadline deal:

MarketHow a trade moves itWhen it moves
Super Bowl / conference futuresUsually small, a few cents of implied chanceWithin hours
Division oddsModerate when the race is closeWithin hours
Player props (traded player)Large, because role and volume changeFirst week after the trade
Player props (teammates)Often overlooked, as targets get redistributedFirst two to three weeks
Seller's weekly spread and totalModerate, especially totalsNext game

The teammates row is the one bettors miss. When a selling team loses its best skill player, the remaining players do not just absorb his volume evenly. Books set those props from season-long averages that no longer describe the offense.

The Dates That Matter

DateWhat happens
Thursday, Oct. 29Week 8 begins
Sunday, Nov. 1Ravens at Bills (highest Week 8 total, 52.5); Chiefs at Broncos
Monday, Nov. 2Bears vs. Seahawks
Week 9Final games before the deadline
Tuesday, Nov. 10, 4 p.m. ETTrade deadline

Week 8 schedule and opening total per Sports Betting Dime and ABC7, October 2026.

The window between now and November 10 gives sellers two more games to confirm what they are. A Colts team that loses again in Week 8 moves from "open to offers" to "taking calls." A Raiders team that has dropped four straight, with Kirk Cousins still starting over rookie Fernando Mendoza, could join the list. Teams near .500, like Dallas at 3-4 and Green Bay at 4-3, are the hardest to read and the most likely to surprise.

How to Bet Around the Deadline

Watch the totals of the selling teams. A team that trades its best offensive player has less reason to keep scoring, and books don't always lower totals fast enough. Our NFL picks against the spread cover sides and totals each week.

Don't chase futures on the day of a trade. The price shortens within minutes and usually by more than the trade is worth. Patience costs nothing. If you want to compare prices across the league, start with our NFL futures page and the Super Bowl 2027 odds tracker.

Bet the first game, not the press release. A newly acquired player often plays a limited snap count in his first week. Props set on his old role can be too high.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the 2026 NFL trade deadline?

The 2026 NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 10, at 4 p.m. ET. It falls right after Week 9 of the regular season. After that time, teams can no longer trade players until the new league year begins in March, though they can still sign free agents and claim players off waivers. Most deadline deals are announced in the final 48 hours, so expect the busiest news cycle on November 9 and 10.

Will the Colts trade Jonathan Taylor?

It is possible but not certain. The Colts are 2-5, fired general manager Chris Ballard on October 20, and multiple teams have expressed interest in Taylor, according to ESPN. But Taylor is signed through 2028 on a two-year, $44 million extension, so Indianapolis is under no pressure to move him. Analysts have suggested a first- and third-round pick package. Interim GM Ed Dodds would have to decide whether a rebuild starts now or in the offseason.

Which teams are sellers at the 2026 NFL trade deadline?

The most likely sellers are the Indianapolis Colts (2-5), Philadelphia Eagles (2-5), Los Angeles Chargers (0-6), Tennessee Titans (1-6), Washington Commanders (1-4-1) and Arizona Cardinals (2-5). Arizona has already traded Marvin Harrison Jr. to Houston. Players frequently named include Jonathan Taylor, DeForest Buckner, Saquon Barkley, Khalil Mack, Tony Pollard and Daron Payne, though none of those deals has been reported as close.

Which teams are buyers at the 2026 NFL trade deadline?

The Kansas City Chiefs are calling around for a wide receiver, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, after an ankle injury to Tyquan Thornton. The Pittsburgh Steelers are also a team to watch at receiver. The Chicago Bears, 5-2, were flagged by ESPN as needing help in the secondary and at pass rusher. The 49ers, at +580 the Super Bowl favorite, are dealing with a Christian McCaffrey calf injury.

Do NFL trade deadline deals change Super Bowl odds?

Usually only a little. A single non-quarterback rarely changes a team's championship chances enough to move its futures price much. Houston traded a second-round pick for Marvin Harrison Jr. at 1-4 and is still 2-5 at +3500. The bigger price changes after a trade tend to show up in player props for the traded player and his new teammates, and in the totals of the team that sold.

What did the Texans give up for Marvin Harrison Jr.?

According to the Cardinals' release, Houston sent its 2027 second-round and sixth-round picks to Arizona for Harrison and a 2027 seventh-round pick. The deal was agreed October 11-12, 2026. Harrison is due $4 million this season and $5.62 million in 2027, with his signing bonus already paid by Arizona. Houston will also have to decide on his fifth-year option this offseason.

Why is Khalil Mack a likely trade candidate?

Mack plays for the 0-6 Chargers on a one-year, $18 million contract. Ten million dollars of that came as a signing bonus that has already been paid, so an acquiring team would only owe the remaining prorated share of his $8 million salary. A proven pass rusher on a short, cheap rental is the most common kind of deadline trade, and Chicago's need for edge help has made Mack a recurring name in Bears coverage.
